What Causes Pain In The Right Eye After Waking Up In The Morning?

I woke up this morning with pain in my right eye. It was very watery and painful. I thought it was pink eye, however; my eye is not red at all like it is typically with pink eye. On my way to work I started having double vision in my right eye. I just looked in the mirror and the pupil of that eye is visibly larger than in my left eye.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Pain and watery discharge in one eye might be related to infection or inflammation of the conjunctiva or lacrimal apparatus. I would advise you to instill flurbiprofen eye drop 2 drops 4 to 5 times a day. If it doesn't subside in a day or two, then in my opinion you should immediately consult an ophthalmologist for physical examination and slit lamp examination for exact diagnosis and timely treatment. Wash your eyes with cold water and keep it clean.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. B R Hudda
