What Causes Pain In The Right Hip Joint While Having Degenerative Disc Disease?
Hi, I have degenerative disc disease in my lumbar area by MRI with compression of L5 nerve root right and impingement on the left. I have had pain for several months with injections which did not help. My concern now is increasing pain over the right iliac crest but progressing into my right abdomen and down to the groin during the past 3 weeks. Ultrasound of my abdomen showed all normal except a fatty liver, but did not show the ovaries. My concern is ovarian problem or kidney stone with this pain and I did have a kidney stone in left ureter in 1985 requiring surgery. I have an appointment with a nurse practitioner on Monday to hopefully perform some more tests, but my pain today is quite severe. Should I seek medical attention today? My email address is YYYY@YYYY . Thank you.
Since you are suffering from degenerative disc disease DDD, thus possibly it has progressed to herniated disc disease/spinal stenosis] thus causing pain in the hip [right iliac crest].
1. Consult an Orthopedic surgeon regarding hip discomfort since it could be because of hip osteoarthritis, AVN [avascular necrosis], DVT [deep vein thrombosis], PVD [peripheral vascular disorder], Nerve irritation [Sciatica] or simply because of cramps in calf [due to diabetes, calcium/salt deficiency].
PS. The symptoms have to be carefully assessed by your doctor to ensure that whether it requires immediate medical attention or long-term therapy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
