Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having pain in my right knee for over a year. I have had 2 x-rays and nothing shows except for some varicose veins which might be causing the knee pain. Is it possible for varicose veins to be the reason for my knee pain and if so, what can I do to alleviate the knee pain?
Varicose veins can cause discomfort but it is usually mild in most persons not severe.
If the pain is intense then this is not likely the cause.
X rays sometimes do not show early changes that are occurring in the joints. This may require more in depth imaging such as CT or MRI.
Pain medication and physiotherapy should help relieve the pain. You may need a combination of different types of pain killers if one alone is not enough
I hope this helps
