Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Sir Iam 68 years old and a paraparesis patient for the last 40 years. I can walk. Iam having 20 persent sensation in my right leg. Iam getting pain in the right side of my right lower leg. But the pain is there only when Iam sitting or lying. While standing or walking it is not there . What may be the reason and whom to consult
In your case, the cause of your paraparesis may be important in considering the causes of your right leg pain. If the pain is worse with sitting and better with standing, there may be a problem in your lower spine that is pinching a nerve to your leg. If you have been having the pain for more than a couple weeks already, I would recommend you see your doctor about possibly getting a lumbar spine X-ray, and perhaps getting dynamic X-rays while you are in various positions, especially the sitting position when you are having the pain.
That would be my first step. Beyond that an MRI might be appropriate if the pain persists.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch,
General & Family Physician
