Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a burning pain in my back on the right side near the bottom of my rib cage. I only thing that helps with the pain is putting pressure on it. I have also got a rash about the size of a quarter on the right side about 2 inches below my breast. It does not itch, but is slightly sensitive and looks like bug bites.
You may be having shingles that are causing the rash and the pain in the right side of the rib cage. It is generally self-limiting and should improve within 1-2 weeks. You need to keep the area clean and you may use local acyclovir to help speed the healing. Ibuprofen 600 mg every 6 hours after food can be used to help with the pain. If no improvement within a total of 2 weeks or if you notice any worsening you will need to see your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
