What Causes Pain In The Right Temple Region?

I have a reoccurring headache like pain in my right temple. It is a shooting pain that Tylenol will relieve but it will ultimately return to the same location. It feels like a vein or vessel is tender on the outside of my skull. When there is no pain there is no tenderness. I m a 61 year old male.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
The pain you describe sounds like a primary headache like migraine or tension-type headache since no associated systemic symptoms.Treatment for such a condition may be preventive or curative during acute attacks.I will suggest you try the following:
-Continue with tylenol when you feel pain
-You may add a paracetamol-codeine combination like klipal if pain severe.
-Rest well
If the problem persist, you see a Neurologist evaluation.A brain CT scan will be useful.Other causes of headache(secondary headache) will have to be eliminated like systemic infections, High BP...
Hope this will help
Best regards
