What Causes Pain In The Right Thigh?

I have been experiencing pain in my right thigh (femur) for quite a while. xrays concluded arthritis, physical therapy did not help. I am a hiker. When on hikes with my hiking club I am ok but afterwards for a day or two the pain is strong enough I am taking Aleve. I can hardly lift my leg out of a straight position. Entering my car I have to bite my lip for the pain it causes to lift my right leg. What is next? Do I have to live with it or?

Hi,

Unfortunately, arthritis can sometimes cause severe pain. The hikes are aggravating arthritis so you may have to hold off on any moderate or intense hikes.

You can consider retrying physio but add taking a course of pain meds to see if this helps.

Other than hip replacement, pain medication and physio exercises are the only other options.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
