What Causes Pain In The Shin Area?

my husband got hit on the inside of his shin by a softball Saturday night. It really hurts to touch the area, but not real bruised. But now down on his ankle it is starting to swell and bruise. Should we be concerned. You know men... don t want to go to the doctor. LOL

In my opinion the swelling might be due to soft tissue injury or a hairline fracture
There might be injury to veins as well.
It is advisable to get a X ray of the leg done.
Also weight bearing on the affected leg should be avoided.
