What Causes Pain In The Shoulder And Chest After An Injury?

I flipped a 4wheeler last night and I landed on my back but I hit my right shoulder when I first hit the ground. There is swelling and pain in my shoulder but certain movements or if I cough I have pain in the right side of my chest. I had an xray and it was normal. But I m still having pain. What could it be that my chest hurts too?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms seem to be related to myalgia due to microtrauma.

I suggest you use anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen.

I also suggest you use an anti-inflammatory cream for local application.

Cool compresses can also help in relieving the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
