What Causes Pain In The Shoulder Blade And Upper Back While Using Monistat?

I have a monistat package for a fungal infection behind my knees and in the fat folds of my tummy. The package warns about also having a system of shoulder or back pain. I have a stabbing pain that hits under the shoulder blade on my upper left back, coming from an unknown source and does not seem to be related to any muscle use.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If the Monistat was used topically and applied only the areas with the fungal infection then it is not likely to have a systemic effect and should not be affecting your shoulder joint or any other areas. If it was taken orally, it may have systemic effects.

If the pain is severe, then it may be best to be seen. Imaging of the affected areas by X-ray may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
