What Causes Pain In The Spine While On Rifampicin And Pyrazinamide?
I am a patient of Spinal TB since 2010. dr suggested me Isoniazid 300mg, Rifampicin 600mg daily Pyrazinamide 1000mg and Ethambutol 800 mg daily. After one year I have stopped the medicine without drs advise. four months after I felt fever and weakness. i again Restarted the medicine and stoped. since one year i am continue using the medicine and i am feeling pain in my spinal cord. today i went to agha khan hospital karachi. dr suggested to continue your medicine and bring MRI.
Spinal pain is very common and may have many different causes unrelated to tuberculosis such as degenerative spinal disease. However, given your history, it is feared to be due to disc or vertebral involvement of the infection. Another possibility is fractures or displacements predisposed by previous TB damage to the spine. So if the pain persists I think an MRI should be repeated to check for the type of damage.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
