What Causes Pain In The Testicles After Surgical Removal Of A Hernia Mesh?

My husband had hernia mesh that had dislodged and balled up and wrapped around the cords of his left testicle. He had surgery to remove the mesh one week ago. He lost the right one in 2012 due to torsion. He is fine laying down but the pain is intense in the testicle when he stands up making standing or walking near impossible without severe pain. When he had torsion in the right testicle, the pain was horrible regardless of the position and also to the touch, which is different then this time. Could it still be torsion or is it something else?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to minor post operative inflammation. As a first line management, you can take analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like Aceclofenac/Serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.

If pain persists, you have to consult a general surgeon and plan for an ultrasound scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
