What Causes Pain In The Toe Joints?

Hello, my name is josh. I am an avid basketball player, i have never had any toe or joint pain associated with my right big toe-joint but after last weekends full court games. The joint area where my big toe connects to the pad of my foot with the primary area of pain being underneath the pad of my foot on the outer edge, pushing in where it curves on the callused part. I am just unsure of the nature of the injury, I am thinking it may be a stress fracture of some kind.
