Hi,I am Raju.A.T (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I run half marathons, several a year. Beginning in December I had my second toe begin to hurt half way through the run. THis seems to happen each time now....once in January, twice in FEbruary, and on a 10 mile run today. In addition, I have been finding myself incredibly fatigued just a few miles into the run .....today I walked on the 10 mile run. I don t believe that I have ever had to stop and walk during a race, but did a few weeks ago on a training run too.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Running in Marathon is a tough job. You have been ding it since long but once in a while a single step /misjudgement/mistake could have caused trauma to the affected toe (the small joint, logament, tendonbeing involved in injury). This could not be relieved due to ansence of care & continuous running. Which seem to have aggravated the problem. In such condition I would advise to get examined & investigated as per need by an orthopedic surgeon followed by specific treatment advised. By the time you should avoid painful movements, take over the counter medicine like Ibuprofen twice a day for some relief.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
