What Causes Pain In The Tongue After Chemotherapy?
I hope you ca n . I undergo chemothera py for the time being. Since I had the first treatment, I noticed that my tongue started to hurt to such an extent that I was not able to eat solid food . From y doctor I got Magic Mouthwash which is a mouthrinse and contains lidocaine. I have to dilute the liquid because it is very very thick. It seemed to help somewhat but the problem has not diasppeared . Can you give me some advice?
Due to chemotherapy there can be inflammation inside mouth due to the side effect of the chemotheraputic drugs and it is one of the most common side effect of chemotherapy.. Unfortunately there can only be symptomatic treatment to reduce the symptoms and once the chemotherapy sessions will complete then the soreness of tongue will resolve gradually.. You should continue using the magic mouthwash and along with it you can start taking Vitamin B Complex and lysine supplements.. You can also suck ice to reduce the soreness due to inflammation. Take soft foods and avoid spices..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
