What Causes Pain In The Upper Abdomen And Groin Area?

I have been diagnosed with a distended bladder and am recovering from a pretty bad bladder infection. I am currently taking an antibiotic. I have started having pain in my upper abdomen behind my right rib extending with sharp pain into my groin. It has steadily increased in intensity over the last couple of hours. It gets worse upon walking or standing. I am also having some slight nausea. Please help. Thank you,

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most probably it will be a renal colic arising from minor stones or calculi.

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult a urologist and plan for an ultrasound scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
