What Causes Pain In The Upper Abdomen Upon Coughing?

I had bronchitis this past week with a lot of coughing. Now I have severe stabbing pain on my left upper abdomen every time I cough, laugh, sit up. It feels like a knife is stabbing me from the inside out. I also had coffee ground diarrhea X 1 yesterday.

Hello,

You can have stomach infection along with respiratory affection. You can get investigated with USG (Ultrasonography) abdomen scan, CBC and stool routine micro examination.

According to reports further management plan decided. Maintain hydration with lots of water. Also, antacid like Rabeprazole drug can be prescribed.

If reports are suggestive of bacterial gastroenteritis, then antibiotic course can be prescribed for that. Also, consult physician for examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
