What Causes Pain In The Upper Abdomen?

I have been getting off and on for the last week or so upper pain in my stomach just under my breast the pain only lasts a second or so but it is sharp when I get it. I have taken a Gaviscon tablet and it seems to help. However I am a 5 year survivor of breast cancer should I get an endoscope test, I can not drink the mixture they give for Upper Gi Series test.

Hi,

As you said that getting on and off severe pain in upper abdomen indicates muscle twitching or compression. But as you had breast surgery before 5 years, you can have endoscopy test done as soon as possible for better diagnosis and to understand the underlying cause of discomfort.

If the test will be normal then its fine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
