What Causes Pain In The Upper Back Of The Throat While Treating Cold?

Hello, every time the day or 2 I catch a cold, my upper back throat starts hurting. I can feel the pain every time I swallow, and it s behind the uvulva. It seems if I get rid of the pain before the next day, then I won t catch a cold. This time I tryed medicine which I thought would rid the pain, nut it s just keeping me from getting a cold and my throat still hurts. Today I started caughing a little and have a little running nose. What can I do ? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to an upper respiratory tract infection. I suggest using a throat spray with anti-inflammatory properties.

I also suggest using anti-inflammatory medication such as Acetaminophen to relieve the symptoms. I recommend cold beverage, drink liquids and rest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
