Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
When I stand for more than 20 minutes I get pain in my upper rib cage, I bend at the waist to relieve it when I straighten up it turns into a burning sensation that includes the upper rib cage and the upper back region. I am getting over the flu and still have a cough.
Pain in the rib cage may be due to intercostal muscles spasm due to continuous cough or it may be due to vitamin D deficiency.
Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid cool drinks and fridge water. Avoid smoking and caffeine drinks.
Use tablet Tramadol with paracetamol twice a day for five days. If symptoms don't improve, please consult your doctor, he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu,
Internal Medicine Specialist
