What Causes Pain In The Upper Thigh Upon Sitting And Standing?
I have pain in my upper left outer thigh area after sitting and start to stand. It is hard to stand and walk; however, after starting to walk the pain subsides. Also, sometimes, at night the left leg will ache and sometimes the left arm also aches slightly. PCP said take 2 ibupropen daily. Any suggestions? Just started 6 to 8 months ago and makes walking not as comfortable.
This symptom most likely indicates a condition called trochanteric bursitis, in which a soft sac called bursa in the hip joint is inflamed. Therapy consists of the over-the-counter pain killers, and most importantly, physical therapy and injection of a steroid drug into the site of the pain. These relieve the pain over time.
So reschedule a visit with your primary care physician to discuss those. However, while you wait, application of ice packs several times daily on the site of pain does well to reduce the pain .
Thanks.
