Sir,My daughter is 4yrs old, for past 6mths she used to tell that she is having pain not in urinal area but near to the urinal. I gave her norflox with a doctor's advice but even after that she complained. Again I had a urine culture but everything was okay and had the prescribed medicines. But still she is complaining that she is having pain around the urinal area but not severe .I dont know what to do for this problem.

Infectious Diseases Specialist, Dr. Praveen G's Response
Hello, Welcome to HCM, The symptoms of your daughter suggest me that she may be having some irritation near the genital area. This area is prone for infection as the urethra is short and known to cause infection.
The genital will have microorganisms which are the normal comensals of this area, whenever there is a imbalance in the environment they can produce the symptoms.
As her urine culture are normal and not shown any growth of organism, it may not be a infection. The small trivial injury can also present with this symptoms.
She may requires a physical examination to confirm the diagnosis and then we can decide on further treatment. Thank you.
