What Causes Pain In The Wrists And Elbows While On Carbamazepine?
How long can I expect my sun sensitivity to return to normal after I quit taking carbamazepine ? I have been taking carbamazepine for about 14 months and things have been pretty much okay until about 6 weeks ago when I started having horrible pains in my wrists and elbows and my sensitivity to sunlight ramped up to the point that I am having to wear sunscreen or cover myself with clothing just to be outside for a few minutes. I take carbamazepine for Trigeminal neuralgia. I am 68 years old. I am female My health is good and I am active. Thank you.
Carbamazepine may can cause photo-sensitivity. But once again check the cause weather this photo-sensitivity to this drug or any other extra added drugs like antibiotics like Doxycycline, Fluroquinolones, anti-cholesterol drugs or anti-fungal etc.
Time vary from person to person. This may appear like a lupus reaction of skin. Use sunscreens that protects from ultraviolet light, Corticosteroid and anti histamine may helpful. If symptoms not improved please consult your treating doctor he may change alternate medication in place of Carbamazepine.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
