Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My two-year-old daughter complains that her tongue hurts she told me that it's the tip of her tongue but when I look I never see any spots. one time I saw some redness but I thought maybe she had just bit it and that was the reason why it was red. She mostly says it hurts when she's in the car and now when she says it hurts, she has me put my finger in her mouth and rub her tongue and then sometime she takes my finger and put it to the back of her mouth and chews on it. Also she says it after she drinks apple juice so I'm just wondering because there are no spots and there is no discoloration what could this possibly be ?
Redness at the tip of the tongue along with pain seems to be due to Glossitis and can be due to a number of reasons like Tongue bite, excess intake of sour foods, Vitamin B12 deficiency etc. I would suggest you that you should consult a Pedodontist and get evaluated and a clinical evaluation and blood investigation [if required] can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly.. She can be advised Vitamin B complex supplements, limiting the intake of sour foods, apply numbing gel over the tongue tip for relieving pain and also take Ibuprofen to relieve inflammation and pain..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
