Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
the pain usually begins after I walk barefoot on a hard surface. Not the big toe , but the second, third and fourth toes become very painful; also the ball of the foot extremely painful. It is always on the left foot and never on the right. Does this sound like gout?
Hi, Hanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. What pain you are complaining of in the toes could be mainly due to calcium deficiency. However, it would be better you get the following investigations done to rule out other possibilities. 1. Color Doppler scan of the leg. 2. Serum Uric acid level. 3. RA factor. In case the reports indicate any abnormality, kindly consult Physician for review and management. Otherwise, intake of calcium supplements in the form of tablets and consuming calcium rich foods should suffice. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
