What Causes Pain In Toes And Black Spot Under Nail?
I have severe pain in my big toes but not in the joints . The nail area is red, swollen, there s a black spot under the nail and along the edge of the nail. My feet are also swollen, the pain is so bad that I can t even touch my toes and now it s spreading to other toes. I ve been soaking my feet in Epsom salt and using Tinactin cream, prescribed by my doctor. Neither of them helped. She thinks I have either Athlete s foot or gout because I have very bad arthritis. But I don t have pain in toe joints and the pain I have is not arthritic. I d like to know what exactly it is and how to cure it because my doctor is not helpful at all. Harland.

I think that with your symptoms you should have a complete blood workup done.
I would particularly like to have a look at your uric acid levels.
High levels of uric acid in the blood can cause gout which can lead to this kind of pain and swelling like what you are having.
