Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In Upper Abdomen Post Choleocystectomy?
Has pain for 30-40 minutes every day in stomach between lower rib cage especially in the middle and it goes across. Happens at the same time every day. Patients gallbladder has been removed but pains haven t stopped. Multiple tests have been done but can t figure out what it is.
As per my surgical experience, many of the Post Cholecystectomy syndromes do not show up on radiology imaging. It is the evaluation of associated features to be detailed discussed as: - Duration since surgery - Association with particular food stuffs - Relieving factors - Type of food intake - Residual edema at operated area of gall bladder fossa in liver bed - Abnormalities of biliary drainage system - Abnormalities of bile salt and acid concentrations in small bowel
In my clinic, I do recommend a primary work up with stool microscopy and ultrasound of the abdomen & pelvis for further guidance of therapy.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
