What Causes Pain In Upper Back And Chest After An Injury?

I fell while cleaning a ceiling fan, landing my upper back and head hitting a wooden table. I have a lot of upper back pain, mostly middle of the back, and chest pain when eating, yawning and burping. It s been a week since the fall and I am still in a lot of pain. Especially after sleeping, when lifting my head and upper body and when bending down to pick something up or putting my arms up.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
I'm sorry to hear about your condition and the pain might be most probably due to the trauma that you sustained during fall. There might be local muscle spasm and you can take some analgesics like Tab. Diclofenac 50 mg TDS and bed rest, it will get better in few days. I would suggest you to get X-ray chest (AP & lat. view ) done so that we can get any idea of injury to spine and ribs if there is any. For further management, you should consult an orthopedic surgeon and he would be better able to start appropriate treatment based on your condition.
Hope this helps you.
Regards.
