What Causes Pain In Upper Stomach In 36th Week Of Pregnancy?
Hi,I am in my 36th week of pregnancy and I am having upper stomach pain since I woke up in the morning.pls suggest me what cud be the reason.occasionally I am having lower abdomen pain and back pain but this is the first time in my pregnancy that I am experiencing upper stomach pain.thank you.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Third trimester of pregnancy is characterised by rapid enlargement of uterus and increased pressure on the diaphragm. The pain in upper abdomen can be due to increased pressure on diaphragm or even due to gastritis. Enlarged uterus can cause regurgitation of gastric contents into the oesophagus and thus gastritis. Both of these symptoms are temporary and are relieved after delivery. In the meanwhile, symptomatic treatment in the form of antacids can be used. However, consult your obstetrician for clinical assessment and to rule out any other cause of these symptoms.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
