What Causes Pain In Vagina While Inserting Tampon?
I ve been using tampons for years and this is the first cycle i ve had any discomfort...it hurt to put my tampon in and hurts to take it out...its getting better as the days go on but i m worried that i won t be able to stand sexual intercourse either...why is this happening?
The symptoms could be due to various pathologies like STD's like chlamydia, PID, cervical inflammation, endometriosis to name a few. Other causes includes vulvodynia that is unexplained chronic mild vaginal pain and vaginismus that is involuntary tightening of muscles around the vagina, which occurs usually in response to penetration. I suggest you to get examined by a gynecologist at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ayesha Shareef, General & Family Physician
