What Causes Pain Inside The Knee?

I have run an average of 5 miles everyday for over 30 years. A few weeks ago I developed knee pain on the inside of my left knee. It s directly on the right side of the knee with no pain around the knee cap. If feels like a tendon or ligament. Thanks, Joe

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due injury of internal structures of knee like menisci or ligaments. A physical examination by an orthopedician will be helpful to rule out this. MRI might be required to confirm it. If mild to moderate injury then conservative treatment will be enough to heal. You might need to wear knee brace, take NSAIDs like nimusulide and avoid physical activities for 6 weeks. In case of severe injury or associated with locking of knee arthroscopic correction will be needed.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
