Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
After years of trying to manage my pain without drugs I was referred to a pain management doctor who has been working with me to try to find a medicine that will be effective for me. I have now tried 4 different pain medicines that are considered to be very strong but have no effect on me whatsoever. I do not understand why these meds do not help at all. Could there possibly be something wrong with me that does not respond to pain medicines.
Oh, so narcotics are not effective. This isn't that rare. Some people have non-functional narcotic systems. Often this goes with abnormally good sleep (except for the pain) a high pain tolerance and a lack of liking narcotics and also alcohol.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
