Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I m a 62 yr old female with pain and discomfort in and around my Anus for about 3wks. My pain is worst upon sitting for long periods of time. I also have pain near my tailbone. No recent injury or trauma to this area. What could be causing this pain? Please help!!
Thank you for asking Healthcare majic. My name is Dr Ehsan Ullah & I have gone through your query.
The skin and soft tissue which is located at the Tailbone region becomes the point of stress when someone is sitting for the long period of time as body's weight which transmits its effect on the soft tissues and skin against the surface where we sit.
such weight bearing regions have risk of pressure sores development so It's recommended that continuous sitting for long periods should be avoided and the sitting surface should be made soft and comfortable.
For pain relief you can use Over the counter pain relieving drugs like Ibuprofen 400mg
but if there is persistent pain and you observe some wound then you should visit your GP/ Physician as it will need wound care management
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
