i have pain in my right nipple radiation around to my back. It feels like nerve pain. I m 61. There is pain in between my ribs about half way down where my breast attach to my chest. It feels bruised, tender to touch. My skin feels sensitive in the same area. Going to the gym seems to relieve it, but I have hashimoto s and have been sick for months.
The pain you are experiencing is likely to be shingles, which is caused by herpes zoster infection. The symptoms starts with dermatomal pain, followed by redness, blistering and crusting. Physical examination can confirm the diagnosis.
Initiating antiviral treatment (like Acyclovir, Valacyclovir) early can fasten recovery and prevent complications. It is also best to get shingles vaccination since you are above 60 years. A thorough breast examination is also recommended to rule out any underlying breast pathology.
Please be advised to follow up with your primary provider for necessary evaluation.
