Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mid-forties nephew has a history of trigemminal neuralgia on one side of his face. He has just experienced pain on the other side of his face for the first time.. He is a heavy smoker and consumes Mt Dew soft drinks exclusively (no other liquids). Is pain or attacks of both sides of the face common? Does this present more of a problem to the patient? Would surgery be more advisable for relief now that both sides are involved? We live in a small town with limited medical resources. thank you. Grace

What Causes Pain On One Side Of The Face?
Hello, The possibilities are neurological causes like trigeminal neuralgia. Consult a neurologist and get an MRI scan done. As of now analgesics like aceclofenac or tramadol can be tried. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
