What Causes Pain On Right Side Of Jaw Along With Ear Pain?
hello, it started with pain in the right side of my jaw for a week, after that I had an earache on my right side for a week. Now for the past week it feels like a worm is crawling around near my right side temple, occasionally it is numb in the area. any thoughts?
Hello, Details on your dental history and last dental exam would be helpful. Are you aware of any grinding habits or TMJ complications. Jaw pain is a common indicator of stress on the TMJ. Pain can radiate and not be specific to a tooth. There is a disc that slides and can be displaced in the TMJ. Do you have any crackin or crouching noise when you open your mouth? Any difficulty opening? Any muscle tenseness or swelling, especially in the morning? Condider having a diagnostic study of the TMJ such as a panorex X-ray or cone beam 3-D study. Dental infections can produce pain in the jaw and radiate to the ear. There can be a pocket of infection that travels to create a fistula. This is a pathway that allows the infection to drain. See your dentist for an can and XRays. Antibiotics and proper dental treatment can then be recommended to control the infection. You should try some Antiinflammitory medication such as Tylenol or Advil to reduce discomfort. Do not stress your jaw. If you do not have any dental concerns, you may have an ear infection.
