What Causes Pain On Right Side Of Lower Back?

My 30 yr. old son has right side only lower back pain. It came on suddenly this past Friday. The PA at work found some blood in his urine, gave him a Rx for Percocet and made an appt. with a urologist today. The urologist didn't see any stone in the urinary tract and sent him for a CT scan. The technician at the scan said that he didn't see any stone either. My son has no pain when urinating. The urologist also gave him a script for a urinary muscle relaxant and told him to try and pass the stone himself. He is awaiting for the urologist to read the CT scan and tell him what to do. There has been on more blood in the urine. If they find no kidney stone, to whom should he go to next to get relief from the severe lower back pain?
