What Causes Pain On The Back And Neck After A Total Colectomy?

Hi, I have had a total colectomy and have a j-pouch due to FAP. I am suffering from severe back and neck pain had an MRI and the DR said they just bulged disks in neck and lower spine very common. I had a hysterectomy at 38 now I am 44. The pain is unreal. What can I do for it besides take Celebrex that is not helping my symptoms? Arthritis is in the lower spine also I forgot that part.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The pain is due to your spine related problem and not related to your colon condition.

You can step up analgesics and try higher analgesics like tramadol or gabapentin which are considered as more effective in this condition.

If symptoms persist, better to consult a neurosurgeon and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
