What Causes Pain On The Back Of The Right Wrist After A Fall?

My daughter has been complaining of pain on the back of her right wrist area. She said it hurts to try to apply pressure, flex at wrist or grip anything (folding clothes, toothbrush, hairbrush). She also has a bump. She does play basketball and had a game two days ago, she did fall but didnt have any instant horrible pain.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I understand your concern. It is possible she injured the soft tissues of the hand, such as tendons or the fat pad. Cold patches and tylenol will help bring down the inflammation. If this does not work and she is still in pain I recommend your daughter gets an x ray in order to determine whether there is a bone injury.

Wishing you all the best.
