What Causes Pain On The Cheek While Suffering From Blocked Nose?
HI
I have blocked nose and I feel pressure and pain on my left cheek. My CT Scan observation is as follows. The doctor has advised me to get surgery done. But i want to know if this can be treated without surgery
CT Scan
Polypoidal mucosal thickening is seen in the maxillary antra bilaterally of thickness upto 9mm on the left side.
Mild diffuse mucosal thickening is seen in the frontal, ethmoidal and sphenoidal air cells.
Bilateral fronto-nasal recesses and osteomeatal complexes are narrowed.
Nasal septum is mildly deviated with convexity towards the right side.
Diffuse nasal mucosal prominence and turbinate bone hypertrophy.
IMPRESSION: CT features of pansinusitis with deviated nasal septum (as described above).

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of pain on the cheek while suffering from blocked nose which is due to deviated nasal septum which causes to deviation of nasal septal cartilage towards one of nostrils and it leads to congestion and at times can lead to severe blockage due to which there is pressure build up and cheek pain. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit otolaryngologist once and get it examined completely and start treatment accordingly. Treatment option is anti allergics, decongestants nasal sprays and steroid nasal sprays and if these don't work then go for surgical correction of the nasal septum(septoplasty) to relieve congestion.
