What Causes Pain On The Either Side Of The Chest And In The Stomach?
I was recently hospitalized with pneumonia and spent 5 days there. My blood oxygen level was at 38 when I went I got to the emergency room and came up to 92 before being discharged. My question is a couple days ago my lungs and the top of my stomach have started hurting pretty bad. Is this normal after an illness of that nature?
Pain in the chest and upper abdominal area are common after Pneumonia. It is due to muscle strain from breathing difficulty during pnuemonia. You can take tylenol (if not allergic) for pain. If you develop fever, cough, sputum production, breathing difficulty or worsening pain follow up with your doctor to rule out complications from pneumonia.
Hope I was able to help you Please address any more concerns Regards, Dr.Lekshmi
