Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I ve been struggling for two months with pain on the right side of my anus after bowel movements that lasts for hours. I just had a colonoscopy three days ago and had my internal hemorrhoids banded and they removed two polyps. I m glad that I had the colonoscopy done, but it didn t resolve the issue that was the main reason that I went to the doctor in the first place. I thought that I had a possible fissure, i also have an anal tag, but he never said anything about it. I m frustrated and worried.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thank you for the query. I understand your concern, The pain by the side of anus after bowel movements could be- - an infected fissure as you guess or - Infected external haemorrhoid ( the skin tag you are referring to ) Please don't get frustrated.. management is not as trouble sum as you experienced earlier. Home care consists of increased fibers & water in diet / schtz' bath followed by application of Pilex ointment over the counter Meet your surgeon . he would examine & advise antibiotics/ anti inflammatory drugs/ stool soother for avoiding hard motions/local pain relieving ointment. Few people do need surgery ( anal dilatation/ excision of external hemorrhoid). Thanks
