What Causes Pain On The Sole Of The Left Foot?

I m having pain on the left side of the underside of my left foot when I m walking. It runs from about the middle of the foot to the heel and sometimes up the back of the heel. Is it plantar factitious as my friend has suggested and how do I make it go away.

General Surgeon 's  Response
In all probability, it is plantar fasciitis. This occurs to people who have to stand for long periods of time. The plantar fascia gets injured, heals with fibrosis and gets shortened. Thus when after a period of rest, when you step on your feet, it pains, and after taking a few steps the pain reduces. There are plantar fascia stretching exercises, which should be done gradually to slowly lengthen the fascia. Three of them are most common, and can be got from the internet, or can be explained by a Podiatric surgeon.long with these exercises, one must use soft, pressure distributing insoled footwear, with a 7 millimeter medial arch support. Appropriate materials are EVA, Plastazote, Poron,. Silicon. This will help in curing and giving relief to this problem.
