What Causes Pain On The Top Of Hip Bone Radiating Towards Buttock?

I have had a sharp pain on my right side, mainly on the top of my hip bone and sometimes feels like it moves to my buttock. Sometimes worse than other times. Hurts when I get out of my car or stepping up a fight of stairs. Sometimes but not always. Don t recall hurting myself.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You seem to have muscle pull in the area can be treated by rest, ice pack when very much painful.

Strong dose(recommended by an orthopedic surgeon after detailed physical examination)would relieve. Some times lumber spondylosis needs to be excluded by imaging investigation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
