What Causes Pain, Swelling And Bruise On Foot Near To Ankle?

Hello I was walking and hit my foot on a chair, my feet have a lot of veins and when hitting the metal chair it hit a vein on the top of my foot near my ankle. It is now swollen and has a little bruising but it hurts really bad. Any movement and the pain starts. If has me really worried that something serious is wrong?

Hi, what is your age and when did this happen? Its probably a Soft tissue injury of the ankle or a hematoma due to a vein injury. You should give it rest in a cast or a Splint and apply warm compresses or hot foamentation therapy. Get an XRay done just to be sure that you havent fractured any bones and take some anti-inflammatory medicines like Ibuprofen(400mg thrice daily) or Diclofenac sodium(50mg twice daily). You should keep the part elevated above the level of the heart for most of the day for the first week atleast and you should be ok in 2-3 weeks. Take care and feel free to ask any doubts.
