What Causes Pain Under Lower Left Jaw Radiating To Neck?

I have pain under my lower left jaw leading to my neck. I recently had two silver fillings replaced in the teeth above that region with ceramic ones. The pain dissipated for a 2 week period and has returned. I also have some slight swelling in the area and it is painful to the touch when I press on the swollen region. Should I go back to my dentist or seek medical advice from my primary physician?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your symptoms the pain and swelling seems very much related to the fillings and it seems that during replacing of the fillings the nerves have been exposed which are located in the centre of the tooth in a small cavity known as Pulp Cavity..
As the nerves got irritated there is inflammation leading to pain and swelling and there is also a possibility that there is abscess formation below the root tips of tooth and pus accumulation is leading to swelling..

Do not worry, consult a dentist and get an IOPAR [X-RAY] done to rule out the exact cause of pain and swelling..
In case if it is due to exposed nerves get the filling removed under local anaesthesia and get root canal treatment of the tooth done followed by antibiotics and painkillers..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
