What Causes Pain Under Ribs Around The Spleen Area?
im a type 1 diabetic for 15 years.. ive had a very sharp pain in my left side under and below my ribs for 4 days, it feels like its around my spleen area.. it hurts to breath and i cannot take a full breath.. its not a muscle pull because i can flex my abs and not feel pain.

Pain in the left abdomen of this nature could be suggestive of diverticulosis, which is when food particles get trapped in the internal pouches of the intestines. Does the pain escalate after meals? If so then this points further towards diverticulosis. There is also the possibility of a peptic ulcer, so see if the pain responds to antacids, such as zantac, pepcid, or tagamet. Your doctor should evaluate for both of these possibilities.
