What Causes Pain Under Right Chest After A Total Mastectomy?
Hi, my husband is 59 years old and had a right total mastectomy with sentinel lymph node biopsy and he also had a axillary node dissection 6 days ago. He also has a heart problems and has an implanted cardiac rhythum device. Since this morning he has had pain on his left side under the rib cage that goes to his back. he ha also been coughing. Should we go to the ER?
Pain on left side of the rib cage may not be associated with prior mastectomy with sentinal lymph node biopsy. The pain may be muscular in origin. I suggest you to consult your surgeon for clinical assessment and thus treatment of the pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
