Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had 3 visits to e/r and 2 hosp stays to rule out cardiac problems which were neg even had stress test neg. when I have a stomach virus or when I vomit which i seldom do I have pain in and under my left breast and upper abd on left side very painful before actual throwing up and then pain lessens after emesis only to return. Pain so severe it feels like a heart attack that sends me to e/r. Could this be esophagus spasms that areas remains tender to touch for several days after bout. Had an episode of pancreatitis once
Since you have already had all your cardiac investigation s done and they came back negative, this is most likely of gastrointestinal origin.
You have mentioned that you have a history of pancreatitis so you should get your serum amylase and lipase done to rule out a recurrence.
Also it will be advisable to get a USG abdomen done. I would advise you to consult a gastroenterologist who may also advise an endoscopy to rule out any gastric ulcer.
Meanwhile, you can take an antacid and antiemetic like Pantop-DSR which will help you to relieve the vomiting.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nazma.amman, General & Family Physician
