What Causes Pain Under The Chest On The Left Side?

My husband has pain on his left side below his heart, and one night I have to take him to the ER because he was complaining about this pain. He stood up and fell back again, anyways he notices that his poop is black and loose today II look and the toilet water is turning red. Should I be talking to his doctor or I should I ask for a second eval. Thank you.

Hi,

Chest pain along with brownish discoloration of stool might be a sign of bleeding from gastric ulcer. Do you have frequent problem of burning pain in chest or sore throat? As hyperacidity is the initial presentation of this kind of ulcers.

So I advice you to consult gastroenterologist. Endoscopic examination is required to confirm bleeding ulcer.
